Welcome - Tide of the Insomniac

Welcome to Ten's blogspot.  Here we proudly present our unique venue, cocktails, staff, parties and much more.

Updated twice a week this site shows you what's going on, how to book your celebration or event, a bit of fun and looks back at some of the past events at Worthing's ultimate party venue.

In this post we take a look at Ten's weekend, preview Northbrook College's up-and-coming fundraiser, announce the winners of our FITC competition, have an article on the joys of insomnia, give you a glimpse behind scenes at Ten and a show you couple of videos from YouTube.com.

FITC COMPETITION:
Making a decision on who should win is always a difficult process, but there's a few people who made themselves stand our this week so here are the winners.  To claim your prize all you need to do is contact us through our Facebook page and we'll send you a printable voucher which you hand to either Daniel or Rob.

Congratulations to both of the winners and if you'd like the chance to win a £10 bar tab for your weekender, just turn up at Ten on a Friday or Saturday night and do something to attract the attention of our photographer Lukas.

HOW MANY TEN STAFF DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT-BULB?
Here at Ten we work hard to keep our unique venue happy, from relentless vacuuming to die hard mopping, our staff never tire of straightening Ten's tie.  So in this post we decided to show you some of what it takes, in particular how we change a light bulb.  You may think its just a case of taking out the old bulb and replacing it with a new one.  Not quite the case at Ten, as some of the bulbs are 30ft up in the roof; The bulb on this particular occasion was inside a projector in the apex of said roof.

The only way to safely reach them is to hire some help, so 10 metres of scaffolding later three staff members stand proudly admiring their handy work.  One awkward part of the process was the decision of who was going up, usually such an important managerial decision is settled by paper, scissors and stone, but this time we just sent the two people who were least scared of dieing from the side effects of terminal velocity.

You'll be pleased to know that our brave 'volunteers' completed the task, and the only casualty was a couple of pairs of pants!  In the picture on the right you can see Daniel and Luke working on the projector; which refused to be fixed.  Unfortunately this meant re-hiring the scaffolding a week later to put the projector back up.

So the answer to the question is 3 - granted it's not exactly the most amusing punchline.

NORTHBROOK COLLEGE FUNDRAISER:
To raise vital funds Northbrook College University students will be performing live entertainment including: volunteers will be getting their body parts waxed, massages for small donations, raffle and much more besides!!! There will even be a 'Full Monty' show starring Ten's very own bar tender Liam Millard.  The event will be hosted by local DJ Ian Diggers Digweed, and Ten Cocktail Bar will be making drinks deals available.

Come and support your local college and university, and join us for some mid-week mania.  Tickets £2 in advance and £2.50 on the door. For more information or to get your tickets visit Ten Cocktail Bar or call us on 01903 238 392.

INSOMNIAC THE POSTULANT:
Those of us who lay awake at night are the lucky ones in some respects.  While those 'normal' people are happily dreaming about being 'normal', we are busy thinking about life's little mysteries.  Having sorted out the answer to the 'chicken and egg' question and have moved onto other issues such as 'why are we here?' or 'why do men have nipples?'.  (The answer to the latter is because the human body is formed with nipples prior to the formation of genitalia, and the body is too lazy to get rid of them afterwards.  But then where would they go?  You'd be informed by the midwife "It's a boy ... oh and some nipples!")

The latest question which has been determined through insomnia is 'what is a Deja Vu?'.  Also called paramnesia which literally means near or against memory, it seems to puzzle the mere mortal but us paramnesiacs have fathomed those depths.  During our sleep we have a great number of dreams, ones we remember and ones we don't, and over the years we have dreamt so many variables of scenarios.  Its logical to suggest that during our accumulated sleeps we will dream an event which will occur in our waking life.  Therefore we could also infer that its an anomaly of memory, giving the impression that an experience is being recalled.

In conclusion I think its reasonable to summise that if you need something reasoned into submission, take it for an all night ponder.

SOMETHING ELSE:
In keeping with our dreams related post we have selected a few videos with that in mind, enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who has worked with us over the last week, and we look forward to seeing you all for a party Ten style.
